       Kumbaba Student Dormitory is a 3 storey student housing unit designed for a plot in Kumbaba district, located close to the Sile Campus of Isik University.

       The aim of the design was to provide the students with a comfortable, optimized living units suitable for different economic conditions with alternated single, 2, 3, 4 person rooms with different designs in 2nd and 3rd floors. Ground Floor contains the social facilities for common usage such as entertainment area, library, a dinning hall and a cafe. The basement floor was designed for service and technical facilities of the dormitory as well as a 13 car parking garage. The 2nd basement floor was designed as a parking garage for 19 cars.

      The building was designed like a wall surrounding the plot to create a private courtyard in the middle and the rooms were designed to face the outer walls of the plot to make the most of the sunlight. Exedras were created in the side facade of the rooms to create shades for some rooms and maximize the view for the others to the front street.

Basement floors contains parking garages and service facilities such as personal dressing room, dinning hall kitchen, storage rooms and laundry rooms for students and dormitory services.

        Entertainment area and cafe were designed as a open space area revolving around the courtyard but dinning hall and library/study room were designed as a separate for odour and noise problems respectively. Back part of the building was elevated on pilotis to create a open air sheltered space in the courtyard near the little pond for students to relax and enjoy.

        1st floor was designed for accomodation purposes with variety of different room types. The rooms facing the front facade were the single rooms with generous balconies looking over to the grand street. Some rooms such as rooms 107 & 108 were designed for 4 people with movable walls separating the habitats of the residents to provide them privacy if needed.  The rooms were connected by a fully glazed hallway with courtyard view.

2ND FLOOR PLAN
The roof terraces were reserved for latter green, recreational and sustainable features.
