Yeldeğirmeni Culture Center is a building offering spaces designed for variety of cultural activities located in Yeldegirmeni district of Kadikoy, a very densely populated area builtup with attached flats connected by narrow streets.

The aim of the design was to provide the habitants of the district with sufficient infrastructure and spaces for recreational, cultural activities and events. By pulling the building back from the corner of the plot, the valuable corner facade was widened and a small recreational square in front of the building was created. Similar pullback was thought on the ground floor to provide an open air sheltered area. A passage through the building from the street to courtyard which connects to the other street the building located next to was designed to provide fludity. The program of the building contains cinema rooms, open space foyer/exhibition halls and buffets on the ground and 1st floors. 3rd and 4th floors were designed for educational purposes. Every space was designed to revolve around the atrium and benefit from the natural light coming from the glazed roof above the atrium. The facades designed in a slanted outwards manner to emulate the old, historical architectural pattern of the area with a contemporary take.
